Bishop's Stortford College: Lent Lectures 2022

Lent Lectures: Wednesdays 5-6pm in the Mem Hall - March 2-23rd

Seeking Truth: in a Post-Truth World

We are delighted to announce that the College will be hosting a series of free public lectures that will, from a Christian perspective, be “Seeking Truth” in four of today’s big issues: Success, Science, Love & Sexuality and Faith.

2nd March – Seeking Truth: in Success

Gavin Peacock scored goals for Chelsea, Newcastle, QPR and a host of other clubs before working in the media as a football commentator, pundit, and TV presenter. Gavin will talk about his successful career and how “Greater Glory” was to be found not on the pitch, but in the pulpit.

9th March – Seeking Truth: in Science

Dr Lesley Gray is a scientist and teacher, having previously worked with the Faraday Institute's God and the Big Bang Project. She will present how scientific truths have lead her to the conclusion that the best explanatory hypothesis for the universe and intelligent life is a creator rather than blind chance.

16th March – Seeking Truth: in love and sexuality

Andy Robinson is a pastor at Woodstock Baptist Church, Oxford, Training Director at Living Out and gay. His story is a personal journey of discovery. It will cover how he has found Jesus to value all people, his teaching on sexuality and the possibility of finding an identity that is deeper than sexuality.

23rd March – Seeking Truth: in Faith

Dr Amy Orr-Ewing is an international speaker, author and theologian who addresses the deep questions of the day with meaningful answers found in Christianity. She will explore the nature of faith including its intellectual foundations and potential.

These talks are open to all who are interested. Tickets are free, but spaces are limited.  They can be obtained by scanning the QR code on posters or clicking here.
