The Stortfordian Walkway

Commemorate your time at Bishop’s Stortford College in perpetuity by commissioning a bespoke hand carved York Stone paver. Add your own name and dates, honour a loved one, or add your family’s surname to the Stortfordian Walkway.  The number of stones laid in this prominent position are finite and as such the opportunity to take part is both first come first served and highly limited.

A gift of £1000 or more will secure your stone for the next 150 years of the College and beyond, and your gift will go towards the creation of our new bursary initiative, with the aim of transforming the lives of bright underprivileged children through access to a Bishop’s Stortford College education.  Limited options to sponsor a beautiful engraved bench in addition to your stone will be available upon request for gifts of £2500 or more.

Click the button below to reserve your stone, and a member of the Stortfordian Foundation Team will be in touch to discuss the particulars.

The opportunity to commission a Walkway stone is open to Old Stortfordians of all ages only.

Please e-mail us on foundation@bishopsstortfordcollege.org with any questions you may have.

The Gift of an Education...

If education is the key to shaping the life of any child, the resilience that College pupils have shown over the past time of uncertainty in the world and through unprecedented challenges to their education has demonstrated the remarkable opportunity on offer at Bishop's Stortford College.

It has always been our belief that bursaries are crucial for supporting talented children from less advantaged backgrounds, who would thrive at Bishop’s Stortford College given the opportunity to do so, and the past year has only made this case stronger and more relevant than ever before.

Our vision is now to increase the level of bursarial support that we provide, so that no child deserving of a place here is unable to take this opportunity based on affordability.

We believe that a Bishop's Stortford College education is a powerful lever when it comes to tackling issues of social mobility, and we would like to be able to do more to enable enrollment for those brilliant potential pupils who do not have the means to access a College Education.

Beginning now in 2021, in partnership with a generous donor community, we hope to raise enough to offer two new fully funded places annually, one at 11+ and one at 16+. These places will be fully funded for the lifetime of the pupil's education, and if necessary will include provision for uniform, sports kit, and other expenses, to ensure no barriers to success exist.

We stand committed to improving the outcomes for as many bright young pupils as we can going forward, and wish to encourage our community to join us in making this a philanthropic priority.

We must raise enough to offer the first two places in September 2022 - can you help us to give the Gift of an Education to two deserving children?

Music for Generations to Come - The Memorial Hall Organ

Every Christmas Carol Service, Harvest Festival, Remembrance Service, Spring Term Choral Concert along with numerous assemblies are accompanied by the notes from our magnificent organ in the Memorial Hall. With the march of time, the organ has aged considerably whilst being put under increased pressure; the cost of maintenance and repair is spiralling, with no guarantees of perfect working order anymore. The working future of the organ is in grave doubt.

Significant repairs to stabilise the organ and the addition of new digital aspects to enhance the instrument will ensure our community of pupils, parents past and present, Old Stortfordians and staff members will be able to enjoy our beloved services and concerts in full in the Memorial Hall for generations to come. The repairs and enhancements to the organ required are significant, but will help to ensure its continued pride of place in our history, as we look to the future of sound and song in the Mem Hall.

Your gift will secure the future of our ability to provide meaningful musical opportunities for the community to celebrate together, give thanks together and remember together in our most central and iconic of buildings.

If you would like further information on this campaign please do not hesitate to contact a Foundation team member on foundation@bishopsstortfordcollege.org where we will be glad to discuss this further.

The College Annual Fund

Help shape our school environment by giving to The College Annual Fund

We are united in the aim of supporting the continued success of the College now and for generations to come!

To continue to attract gifted students and the highest caliber of academic staff we are committed to future investment in the development of the College. However, all this comes at a cost and the reality is that, as a school, we receive in fee income considerably less than we need to spend.

The Annual Fund gives our community the opportunity to support the school in a way that allows the College to invest immediately where the need is greatest, to support the enhancement of the school's educational provision, facilities, and extracurricular activities.

Most donors to the Annual fund choose to give on an ongoing basis, typically monthly or annually, ensuring a dependable stream of income is available to allocate when need arises. Purchases from The Stortfordian Foundation Shop go directly to support the goals of the Annual Fund as well. Details of where the funds have been allocated will be conveyed to all donors, so that you can see the impact that your generosity has helped to achieve.

Join the many Parents, Old Stortfordians, and other supporters who help us to create a wonderful environment for all pupils to thrive!
