OS Callum Ilott (PP,WH,03-08) whose family live in the Hadhams, has been named Ferrari's Formula One test driver for next season.
It means he will also be the reserve for the Italian team's 2021 race drivers Charles Leclerc, of Monaco, and Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr, who replaces Aston Martin-bound German four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel.
Callum, who has been part of the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) since 2017, joins Mike Hawthorn and John Surtees in an exclusive stable of Britons driving for 'The Prancing Horse'.
The 22-year-old was runner-up to Mick Schumacher in this year's Formula Two championship. He secured three race wins and five pole positions – compared to his rival's two victories and no poles – on his way to finishing 14 points behind the son of German F1 legend Michael in the F2 title race.
