OS Bring Home the Gold at National Alumni Men's Hockey Tournament 2025

The OS Men’s Hockey team put in a strong and consistent performance to win the National Alumni Sixes Tournament at Haileybury on Sunday 14th September.

With an impressive total of 16 goals scored across the tournament, the team played fast, attacking hockey from the first game to the final. The standard of play was high from other alumni teams but the OS remained focused and organised demonstrating their standout skills and talent on the pitch.

The final saw them up against Haileybury, the defending champions and tournament hosts. It was a competitive match, but the OS handled the pressure well, stayed composed and came out deserved winners, taking home the trophy.

A huge thank you to all the players who gave up their time to take part and represent the team so well on and off the pitch. Congratulations on an oustanding result and a successful day of hockey!

Match report from Captian Jack Wheaton:

BSC OS started the day with some convincing wins in their pool games against Aldenham (3-0) Caterham (5-2) and Cheltenham (3-1). There were a number of fine individual goals from Ross Butler and Jamie Brooks as well as lots of fine team goals, normally finished off by Freddie Colclough.

The team then enjoyed the usual high standard of lunch before the semi final against Haberdashers which was a close 2-1 win with Ryan Cruwys making a number of fine saves to help the team progress to the final which saw a rematch of last years final against a strong Haileybury team.

Stortford took an early lead from a goal from Andy Round before Haileybury grabbed an equaliser. This saw the OS step up a gear and Keir Ansell ran the length of the pitch to regain the lead. Haileybury came back again and only a superb stop on the line by Jack Wheaton from a PC flick kept the lead in tack until Jamie Brooks went on another impressive dribble, rounding almost the entire team including the keeper to put the game beyond doubt with OS winning 3-1.
