Celebrating OS Bryony Lear’s (NH, BH, 11-18), recent outstanding success at the British Film and Television Awards (BAFTAs) 2025. Bryony, along with her talented team proudly took home the award for 'British Short Film’ for 'Rock Paper Scissors’.
Reflecting on this remarkable achievement, Bryony expressed her gratitude for her role as Sound Designer & Mixer on the award-winning film. Her journey with the film began at the prestigious National Film & Television School (NFTS), where she honed her skills and passion for sound design.
Bryony shared, "To have followed the film from the NFTS all the way to the BAFTAs has been the most exciting journey. Celebrating at the awards ceremony with our incredible team made it the most unforgettable night!"
Bryony's academic journey is equally impressive. After leaving the College, she pursued a BA in Film and Television Production with American and Canadian Studies at the University of Nottingham. She then advanced her expertise with a Master's in Sound Design at the National Film and Television School.
Bryony’s path into the world of film and television was profoundly influenced during her time at the College, she fondly reflects on the invaluable guidance and inspiration that fuelled her passion and shaped her career aspirations. ‘During my time at the College, especially whilst studying A-level Media, the brilliant teachers and particularly Mr Tomkys’ passion for Film, inspired my choice to work in the Film & Television industry. I’m so grateful for the insights to different industries we were given whilst at BSC, the most memorable trip for myself being the 2016 Media trip to Los Angeles & San Francisco, where we were able to visit working film sets, and learn about the specific roles within the industry. This opportunity made this career choice a reality for me, and wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the College.
Bryony's success story is a testament to her dedication and talent. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and look forward to seeing her continue to shine in the film and television industry.
Congratulations, Bryony, on your well-deserved success!
