Celebrating 50 years of College memories, friendships and adventures.

Unseasonbly warm October weather provided the perfect back drop for the warm College welcome provided to our special OS guests from 1972, 1973 and 1974 for their 50th Anniversary reunion, three year groups invited annulaly in recognition that friendships forged within Houses and sports teams can breach year group boundaries.

Many returning to campus for the very first time in 50 years, friendships were renewed, remarkably some of which had started on entry testing day at the age of 8 and lots of stories of school days and from life beyond were shared throughout the day. After well deserved refreshments to reinvigorate after a number of very long journeys back to Bishop's Stortford, OS and their guests were welcomed by Chris Forster (MJH,SuH, 82-90) & Past OS President (15-17 & 21-23).

Moving out into the autumn sunshine from the Ferguson Lecture Theatre, which was of course the indoor swimming pool during the 1970s, our OS guests assembled on the Memorial Hall steps to capture the traditional reunion group photograph. It was from this iconic locaction that an enthusiastic group of Sixth Formers collected small groups of our special guests for tours of the campus, a wonderful opportunity to walk in their past footsteps and also see the positive developments on campus over the past 50 years. A highlight of the day for both OS and pupils alike, the tours were undertaken in great spirits, helping to raise an appetitie for a delicious three course lunch.

Sharing of photographs and more stories of school days were enjoyed over lunch where the Head, Kathy Crewe-Read joined the reunion, sharing her grattitude for the great effort many had made to join us for the day. The Head enthusiastically shared news of College developments over the past 50 years and the strategic plans held for the future, a rousing reception was given to the toast to 'Bishop's Stortford College' as she brought the lunch to a close.

Many lingered chatting before bidding a fond farewell to each other, promising to keep in touch with each other and definitely not leave it 50 years again before returning to the College once more.

Warmest thanks are given to all those who joined us for the Reunion.
