OS Warwick Morris OBE (SHb, 62-67) is honoured to receive recognition in HM The King's Birthday Honour list 2023 and writes:
"I was thrilled and honoured to be appointed, in HM The King's Birthday 2023 Honours List published on 17 June, an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) 'for services to UK relations with Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.'
This comes after nearly 40 years as a diplomat, a career which concluded with postings as HM Ambassador to Vietnam (2000-2003), and then to the Republic of Korea (2003-2008.) My involvement with Korea goes back nearly 50 years to early 1975, when I took up the first of my three postings there.
Since retiring from Government service in 2008, I have continued in various roles, some paid, some unpaid, to help promote, encourage and strengthen British links across the board with both of those countries, visiting them almost every year. This has included chairing the British-Korean Society, a voluntary body established in 1956, from 2011-2017, and co-founding in 2013 another voluntary body, the Vietnam-UK Network - which now has some 500 members - of which I was a Vice Chair and then Chair until early 2023. It has been a particular pleasure and a privilege to work with and to befriend so many wonderful people along the way, and to have benefitted throughout from so much support from my wife, Pam."
All at The Stortfordian Foundation & Bishop's Stortford College join together to congratulate Warwick on this outstanding recognition of his dedicated Diplotmatic service over four decades.
