We were delighted to welcome Old Stortfordians to Bishop's Stortford College in celebration of the Diamond Lunch on Friday 24th March.

Responding to feeback from our community, this was the first time we have held the event as a lunch. The response from invitees was very positive and we were especially pleased to welcome so many OS back to the College for the such a sociable occasion..

Fresh from the end of Spring term final assembly, the Head Kathy Crewe-Read, extended a warm welcome to OS and their guests and shared an update on our thriving school community. Kathy went on to offer the College's appreciation for the support the Development Office continue to receive from the OS community including support of our fundraising initiatives for Stortfordian Bursaries and the Memorial Hall Organ appeal.

Newly re-elected OS President Steve Ross (GH, SHA, 65-72), outlined plans discussed at last week’s AGM encouraging any OS who would like to become more involved in supporting the College to get in touch.

Grace was then offered by OS Lodge Chaplain John Rycroft (RPH, 64-69).

Welcoming Old Stortfordians from three decades of leavers who attended the College between 1949 and 1979 enjoyed lunch, whilst reminiscing about their school days and sharing their wonderful memories.  Over coffee OS Edward Rook (SHA, 50-54), an organ expert and supporter of the Memorial Hall Organ campaign shared a brief history of the Memorial Hall and organ, which brought the lunch to a close.

It was a joy to see so many in attendance and reassuring that despite the blustery and wet weather, few were deterred from joining the campus tours which ended the event.

We were very grateful that so many OS joined us and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2024 Diamond celebration next spring!
