Alan Thistleton (GH,HH, 49-58) got in touch recently to let us know that he and his wife, Val, had celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on 20th July 2019. They celebrated this momentous occasion at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge where they have both been guides for a long time.
Alan and Val were married in South Africa in 1969 after Alan had travelled overland from England. They lived in South Africa for nine years before returning to England with their three children.
Celebrating with Alan and Val last July were 50 friends and family including their three children and seven grandchildren. Also joining them for this very special day were Alan’s best man, Chris McDonald (HH, 56-57) and his niece, Caroline Lewis (née Hanney) (YH, 93-95) and nephew David Hanney (MJH,RPH, 87-98).
