Easter is always a busy time in the Higher Education and Careers team as we are busy coordinating work experience opportunities for all of our Lower 5th pupils. As you will know, we have grown as a school and are now working closely with 140 students per year group, an increasing number of whom are overseas students. This makes the task of securing work experience placements for each pupil a challenging one.
We are sure you appreciate how important and beneficial work experience is, and you may have undertaken a placement and experienced the value of such an opportunity yourself when you were at the College. It is often a pupil’s first experience of the world of work and it is essential in helping students develop not only their future employability skills, but their confidence and motivation for their own future careers.
We are looking for work experience opportunities for our current L5th pupils, from 1st – 4th July, and would welcome the opportunity to introduce current pupils to our OS community. We are sure it would forge great relationships and would also inspire pupils once they see the successful and varied careers our OS have gone on to pursue. We have students interested in many careers, from engineering, IT, manufacturing through to creative roles in fashion, branding and PR, and everything in between. If you are open to welcoming a work experience student, please do get in touch with Louisa at louisa.piercy@bishopsstortfordcollege.org and we would be more than happy to explain how easy the process is. Even if you aren’t able to host a student, please do get in touch with us anyway as we enjoy hearing about your careers and your career paths and welcome any interest in helping to support our wider careers programme.
