In November, one determined Old Stortfordian is trading the City for sand dunes as they embark on a grueling 100km trek across the Sahara Desert—all in the name of ending homelessness. In preparation for the challenge, OS Lucie Sudworth (WH, YH, 09-16) is lacing up for three half marathons, pushing physical and mental limits to raise vital funds for Crisis and Simon Community, two charities at the forefront of tackling homelessness across the UK. With every step, Lucie aims to shine a light on the urgent need for safe, stable housing and inspire others to take action.
From Skyscrapers to Sand Dunes: OS Treks Sahara for Homelessness Charities
This November, I’ll be joining a team from Lloyds Banking Group to trek 100km across the Sahara Desert over six days. We’re doing this to raise funds for Crisis and Simon Community, two charities working to end homelessness across the UK.
In the lead-up to the trek, I’m also running three half marathons – my second one is this Sunday 6 July! – to raise awareness and build support for the cause. It’s a personal challenge, but one I’m proud to take on to spotlight the incredible work these organisations do.
My love for sport and exercise was sparked during my time at Bishop’s Stortford College, and it’s a passion that continues to shape my life today. This challenge brings together that passion with a purpose I care deeply about.
Crisis, Lloyds Banking Group, and Simon Community believe that everyone should have a safe and secure place to call home. Our partnership is focused on improving access to truly affordable, high-quality housing and providing tailored support to help people rebuild their lives. All funds raised towards my ambitious target will go towards supporting the nine skylight centres across the UK, enabling them to extend their reach and wrap around support to provide more grants dedicated to providing vital education and skills to their members who are experiencing homelessness.
I’d be incredibly grateful for any support from the Old Stortfordian network. Every share helps amplify the message and brings us closer to ending homelessness for good. I’ve shared my link here – www.justgiving.com/page/lucie-sudworth-sahara-trek-and-more
