Welcoming a new Old Stortfordian into the Nockolds fold.
Hot on the heels of the success of the Nockolds OS work experience programme in December, Nockolds Senior Partner, OS George Burton (MJH,CH, 01-08) has been in touch with a positive update.

George shared the wonderful news that OS Matthew Precious (NH,HH, 12-20) has just been appointed as a Paralegal in Company Commercial for a fixed period of 6 months. A brand new role which Nockolds are sure that Matthew will flourish in.
A 2023 law graduate from the University of York, Matthew reflects on the opportunity that has been afforded to him through the positivity of the OS network:
‘I was lucky enough to be contacted by Jennifer Law on behalf of the Stortfordian Foundation with the opportunity to apply for an internship at Nockolds Solicitors’ Bishop’s Stortford office. I’m extremely grateful to OS George Burton for his role in organising this opportunity.
After being successful in my application, I spent 3 days with the Company Commercial team and 2 days with the Probate team. I spent time assisting the Solicitors and Trainees on typical research tasks, Due Diligence exercises and even got to attend in person client meetings. It was a very valuable insight into how a successful practice operates and what a progressive firm with a strong team ethos, to me, should look like.
Following the internship, I was offered the role of paralegal within the company commercial department. The firm has been incredibly welcoming and helpful with getting me underway and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to be involved in. I’ve found that in both the internship and paralegal role, there has been a huge amount of emphasis on helping me learn new things and take on responsibility, which I am incredibly grateful for. The work itself so far has been varied and challenging; I’ve been involved in drafting documents, client calls and a multitude of other tasks, which has required me to learn quickly. Fellow OS Nicola Lindop is a pleasure to work with and has helped me tremendously so far in doing that and I couldn’t wish for a better person to mentor me in what is my first legal role. Looking forward to the rest of my time at Nockolds!’
We are incredibly thankful to George and the team at Nockolds for supporting our bright and ambitious future OS lawyers in this way and are excited to see where Matthew’s new role takes him.
