A few last minute challenges for registered players meant that a slightly depleted OS ladies hockey team faced the College 1st X1 on Friday 2nd September for their annual fixture. OS competitive spirts were far from adversely affected and the OS team Captained by Imi Basavaraj (MJH,YH, 15-22) quickly gelled despite having just met!

Match pace was swift, spectators strong in number and hugely talented play and skill was displayed on both sides. The OS emerged from the first half 3-2 up and the second half returned a further 3 goals as play moved from end to end across the Astro. At the final whistle the OS held their half time lead with a final score of 5-3.  The young College team showed incredible potential for the future and provided a solid and challenging opposition throughout the whole match – we look forward to welcoming the talented and determined players into the ranks of the OS hockey stars in the future.

Huge congratulations and immense thanks to the OS team for giving up their previous spare time to form the OS team, special thanks also to the referees Richard Temple & Dave Hughes, OS President Chris Forster (MJH,SuH, 82-90) who presented the prizes and to the numerous spectators who lined the Astro in support of all the players. Special mention to U5th Ollie L, who stepped into the breach when both teams found themselves without a goalie – he did an amazing job playing a half in goal for each team!
