Does your company or someone in your network offer virtual work experience opportunities that could be shared with current College pupils?
The College have made the very difficult decision not to run a formal work experience programme again this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact it has had on the availability of in person work experience opportunities.
Our HE & Careers team would be really grateful to hear from you if your company is offering a virtual work experience programme or insight event that College students can apply to.
So how does virtual work experience work? Schemes vary from a placement happening on set dates, with a standard working week, but with all interaction taking place online, to placement/career insight events created by companies, but which can be accessed at any time convenient to the student and are open to everyone.
Since the onset of the pandemic, the College have encouraged both the U5th and Sixth Formers to make good use of their networks and explore opportunities through family and friends. However, opportunities are not always available in the vast range of careers that our students are interested in. Our young people are having to make pivotal career decisions without the benefit of work placements, holiday jobs, or even in person university open days so we are keen to ensure that they have access to worthy alternatives, to help them take their next steps.
If you or someone in your network is able to share virtual work experience opportunities for current students please contact Suzanne Santurri, HE & Careers Advisor/Work Experience Coordinator at suzanne.santurri@bishopsstortfordcollege.org to share the details.
Thank you in advance for any help or support, please do not hesitate to contact Suzanne Santurri if you wish to discuss this further.
