The purpose of The Stortfordian Foundation is to bring our whole community together to support each other and the school. There is no better example of this ethos than The Stortfordian Foundation Internship.
At the beginning of term, Foundation team members presented the idea of an Internship to the Lower Sixth students and asked them to get involved with the launch of the Foundation. The aim was to give the students some unique experiences and practical skills that will help equip them for the professional world, beyond the campus gates. The response from the students was amazing! Amongst them, were Ben and Sienna who both have an interest in photography. The Foundation needed photographs to help set up the Shop on our online hub and thus the two students were able to be an integral part of our launch strategy.
Work took place in a PDP (Personal Development Programme for those who might not know!) session once a week. Ben and Sienna were tasked with photographing a number of items for the Foundation shop and they didn't disappoint! After a short demonstration of the camera provided for the task, the students were given the items including House ties and scarves, College pin badges and cufflinks, and asked to produce professional standard photographs that could be used by the Foundation on the online shop.
Ben and Sienna did a wonderful job. Their attitude to their work was outstanding and we are rightly proud of them and their photographs which you can now see displayed in our Shop - just click on the Shop tab above to see for yourself. Learning how to use the camera was no easy feat: focusing, backgrounds, lighting, positioning and models all tested their abilities and both have had an opportunity to produce a professional piece of work now being used live online.
The Foundation was thrilled to have student involvement in setting up the launch (more of which will be released later this week and next) and delighted to have been able to contribute to Ben and Sienna's professional skill set and confidence.
We hope you enjoy looking round our Shop and at the students' work. Well done and thank you, Ben and Sienna!
