Welcome to the Stortfordian Foundation

"We remember with respect, therefore, those who founded this College and those who, over the years, have built upon that foundation... They built upon it out of a sense of idealism and commitment to education and to the society in which they live."

A very warm welcome to the first blog post from us here at The Stortfordian Foundation. You are among the first to find out all about us, and I am thrilled to have you here!

What is the Stortfordian Foundation?

Last year, we asked our community to send us three words describing their time at Bishop’s Stortford College.  Your responses were an overwhelming pleasure to read, and I thank so many of you for taking time to share with us your feelings, recollections and memories.  The words you most commonly submitted were Community, Friendship, and Opportunity. This was an incredibly poignant discovery for us, as these three things, in essence, are what the Stortfordian Foundation is all about.

Put simply, the Foundation aims to provide the opportunity to build and maintain good relations among our community, the worldwide Stortfordian family, and to foster life-long support for the Bishop's Stortford College for generations to come.

Who is the Stortfordian Foundation for?

If you are a current or former parent or member of staff, an Old Stortfordian, or a friend of the College with another connection, we very much look forward to offering an inclusive, diverse programme of events and engaging communications centred around you and your life here at the College.  As all our activity will take place virtually for the time being, you can join in no matter how far from Bishop’s Stortford you might be.

Register your profile with us online here and join us for exclusive access to the wide variety of offerings available especially to you as a member of the Stortfordian community.

There really is something for everyone; please get involved and get in touch - we’d love to hear from you.

What is next for the Stortfordian Foundation?

With the formal launch party for The Stortfordian Foundation having been cancelled this past June, the team and I are brimming with enthusiasm to get started as the new Autumn term dawns.

I am pleased to say that there are exciting times ahead and the team and I are busy working on something extraordinary and suitably creative that will officially launch the Foundation with a bang later this term. You won’t want to miss out- keep an eye on the Stortfordian Foundation site or follow us on all the usual social media channels for more details.

In the interim, if you would like to consider becoming an Ambassador for the Stortfordian Foundation, please do get in touch with us on foundation@bishopsstortfordcollege.org for more information on what that entails, and how to get involved.

More than 150 years on from our founding, Bishop’s Stortford College remains a remarkably special place, providing excellence in education in a warm, supportive and generous community setting.   We look forward to building The Stortfordian Foundation in partnership with you.
